Afghanistan praktisch ohne Netz

The Taliban has prohibited for Afghans the use of Internet and
obliged public officials to wear black turbans. The Frontier Post
newspaper reports that until now computers linked to the world web
were found in only two ministries -- information and foreign affairs,
as well as the office of the governmental new agency Bakhtar. The
news agency and the military command of the so-called Taliban
militia /the Kabul regime's army/ had their own sites. Now even
these sources of information on domestic life are being closed: the
Muslim theologians -- mullahs and ulemas, who came to power in
1996 -- are enforcing their Medieval norms and Islamic canons in
their own orthodox interpretation. Now in the Taliban-controlled
territory of Afghanistan nobody may use electronic mail. This, too,

the satanic west", reads the decree. The second decree of mullah
Omar obliges all public officials to wear black turbans as a
distinction uniform. They also have been obliged to fill out all
documentation in black ink. Earlier, the Taliban leadership obliged
all teachers and students in universities to wear black turbans.
Without them students were not allowed to attend classes or were
ousted from the few remaining higher schools. Islamisation of the
country is in full swing. This year the machine of state, including
the army and the police, was exposed to total purge. Thousands of
officials, who used to be faithfully serving the Taliban regime, have
been fired and replaced by fanatic graduates of theological
seminaries, madrasahs...
